As Founder and CEO, Gary provides overall strategic direction and leadership for the company, as well as oversight of business operations. He has a track record of successful entrepreneurial ventures in the health care industry, both in medical services and plaintiff litigation. Gary has built multiple business from the ground up, including durable medical equipment companies, chiropractic and orthopedic clinics, diagnostic imaging centers and more recently neurosurgery and orthopedic clinics in multiple states. Gary’s development of Surgical Capital Solutions is a natural progression of his prior business success as well as his ability to capitalize on serving emerging needs in the health care industry.
Joseph Mohr, Ph.D.
Dr. Mohr has over 30 years of corporate finance and investment experience. This experience includes working with an international client base as a management consultant and serving as CFO of a NASDAQ-listed firm. In addition to his duties with Surgical Capital, Dr. Mohr serves as Chief Investment Strategist for Rudd International and on the Advisory Board of several local fintech startups. He has also served as an adjunct professor of Finance at the University of South Florida. Dr. Mohr holds an MBA (Finance, Economics) from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D.(Finance) from the University of South Florida.
As Operations Manager, Sharon manages the team responsible for negotiation and settlement of all accounts receivable for the company. Sharon has over 25 years experience in the medical industry, including serving as a Facility Director for a large multi-disciplinary medical center. She has also served in the roles of HIPAA Compliance Officer and Collection Administrator.
In her personal life Sharon enjoys traveling, boating and spending time with her family.
Director of Business Development
As Director of Business Development, Scott handles new business efforts in designated markets. He also serves as the relationship manager for many current clients. Scott has 30 years of financing and funding experience, including operating his own firm that provided diverse funding services to health care industry clients. Scott earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business from SUNY Oneonta in New York.
In his personal life Scott enjoys spending time on the family farm with his wife of 30+ years and his three sons.
As Underwriting Manager, Cindy directs the team that conducts vetting and reviews for all medical lien cases. She coordinates directly with Surgical Capital clients to ensure high service levels are delivered in case processing.
Cindy started her career as an All Lines Insurance Adjuster in 1986. During her 20 years as an adjuster, she was employed by Colonial Penn, Prudential and The Hartford. Her experience included handling bodily injury, property damage and No-Fault claims. Cindy’s expertise in these areas serve her well in identifying applicable coverage, assessing risk and setting parameters for our staff to effectively underwrite exposures.
Christopher Hamblen, Esq.
As Corporate Counsel, Chris manages the legal matters within the company. In addition, Chris provides support in the areas of case reviews and financial resolutions.
Chris earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Florida State University. Prior to joining Surgical Capital Solutions, Inc., Chris practiced exclusively in the area of personal injury. He brings with him extensive experience dealing with all facets of personal injury cases, from inception to jury verdict.
A lifelong resident of the Tampa Bay area, Chris is proud to call Palm Harbor his home. In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
As Controller, Vanessa directs accounting and banking functions and ensures the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting. She has also led the project integrating our operations and accounting systems.
As Collections Manager, Surray is responsible for the leading the team that negotiates and processes the financial settlements for all LOP/Lien receivables. She provides ongoing reporting and and analysis to help assess and improve collections results.
Executive Asst. & HR Manager
As Executive Assistant to the CEO, Gina provides direct executive support and takes the lead on special corporate level projects. Gina has over 25 years of experience in both the education and health care fields. She has held positions in health care practice administration, revenue cycle management and clinical operations. Gina has been instrumental in the development of several multi-disciplinary medical practices. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Hillsborough Community College and has completed several courses related to medical billing and coding.
In her personal life Gina enjoys spending time with her husband of 34 years and her grown son.
As Receivables Manager, Joanna is responsible for monitoring, processing and posting funding and settlement payments, as well as supporting ongoing management projects. Joanna has 15 years experience in health care operations, having served as a Billing Manager and New Patients Supervisor. She has participated in training in medical billing and coding.
In her personal life, Joanna enjoys spends time with her two children and volunteering at her church.
As Account Manager, Jennifer is responsible for funding operations, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of funding results for our clients. Prior to Surgical Capital, Jennifer held accounting management roles in the real estate and manufacturing industries. She has an Associate of Arts Degree and has attended advanced Office and Excel training.
In her personal life, Jennifer enjoys outdoor activities with her family and has served as PTO President at her children’s schools.
Director of Business Development
As Director of Business Development, James is responsible for all marketing programs and new business initiatives. James has designed, led and executed marketing, business development and process improvement programs for companies including American Express, HSN and several health care organizations. He has also directly secured significant new business for health care vendors, ranging from specialty clinics to regional health systems. James earned a B.A. from The University of South Florida, an M.B.A. from New York University, and is a former U.S. Army Reserves Officer.
In his personal life James enjoys spending time with his two teenagers and coaching and refereeing youth competitive soccer.
